The Kansas City Royals defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 7-1 Tuesday night.
Bobby Witt Jr hit his first career home run in the 2nd inning giving the Royals a 1-0 lead.
Witt also drove in the 2nd run when he grounded into a double play.
The Royals exploded for 5 runs in the 7th inning.
Edward Olivares with a double, Andrew Benintendi with a single, Whit Merrifield with a sacrifice fly, Bobby Witt jr with a single, and Michael A. Taylor with a single each drove in a run.
Olivares finished the game with 4 hits.
M.J. Melendez made his major league debut and picked up his first major league hit a single.
Brad Keller was the winning pitcher going 6.1 innings giving up no runs on 4 hits.
The Royals and Cardinals play again this afternoon with Kris Bubic making the start. The first pitch is set for 12:10 pm.
