Two highways near Harveyville will see work as part of a mill and overlay project, but the start has now been delayed.
Work was supposed to begin Thursday, but the potential for showers and storms has now pushed the start date to May 12 — again, weather permitting.
Regardless, Kansas Highway 31 will have about 10 miles of highway resurfacing from Highway 99 to the Osage County line. Kansas Highway 195 from Harveyville to K-31, or less than a mile worth of highway, will also be resurfaced.
Once work begins, it will take place weekdays and possibly Saturdays during daylight hours. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and a pilot car will direct drivers through the work zone. Delays of up to 15 minutes are expected.
Shilling Construction of Manhattan was awarded the project with a $1.55 million bid. Work should end by mid-June.
