Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station near Burlington will be among the nuclear facilities across the central third of the country as the subject of a virtual meeting on safety performance later this month.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has slated a meeting at 5:30 pm Central time. NRC staff, especially those involved in plant inspection and oversight, will participate.
All the plants involved in the meeting operated safely last year and will receive what the NRC calls “normal” levels of oversight — which still involves thousands of inspection hours every year. Inspections are performed by at least two NRC resident inspectors assigned to each plant as well as specialist inspectors from the NRC Region IV office.
