High school graduations start in earnest this upcoming weekend.
Marais des Cygnes will have its graduation ceremony from 4-5 pm Saturday, while Chase County and Lyndon have commencement activities from 2-3 pm Sunday. Other activities:
*May 14: Santa Fe Trail (10 am), Burlington (11 am-12:30 pm), Hartford (11 am), Olpe (1 pm), Madison-Virgil (3-4 pm), Southern Coffey County (4-6 pm), Northern Heights (7-8 pm);
*May 15: Eureka (2 pm), Waverly (2-3 pm), Lebo (4-5 pm), Osage City (2-3 pm)
*May 21: USD 390 Hamilton
*May 22: Emporia (3 pm), Morris County (3 pm)
For higher education, Emporia State University will have its graduate ceremonies starting at 6 pm May 13 and undergraduate ceremonies at two times — 9:30 am for students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, 2 pm for students either in the School of Business or the Teachers College.
Flint Hills Technical College will have its dental hygiene pinning ceremony from 1-2 pm May 15, followed by spring commencement from 3-4 pm. Both activities are at White Auditorium.
