Kansas US First District Congressman Tracey Mann is running for re-election.
Mann is ending his first term in office after supplanting Roger Marshall, who now serves in the US Senate. Mann says he is running to “get this country back on track,” citing issues with the Biden Administration’s handling of China, inflation, debt, immigration and supply chain issues.
Mann is the only candidate currently filed for the position. Whether he represents Lyon, Chase, Morris and Wabaunsee counties — if he’s elected this November — has not been determined. A legal challenge awaits for the map approved by state lawmakers earlier this year. The map is set to move Lyon, Chase, Morris and Wabaunsee counties from the First District to the Second, which already includes Coffey and Osage counties.
Separately, US Senator Jerry Moran is also running for re-election. Moran has served in the Senate since 2010 and spent 14 years as the First District representative in the US House before going to the Senate.
Unlike Mann, Moran already has a primary challenge from fellow Republican Joan Farr of Derby — and four Democrats, Mike Andra of Wichita, Mark Holland of Kansas City, Robert Klingenberg of Salina and Michael Soetart of Alta Vista, have also filed to run.
