Winter has come and gone and spring has sprung which means the parking lot at 7th and Merchant was jampacked Saturday morning as the Emporia Farmers Market kicked off its 40th outdoor season.
In addition to the usual selection of local produce and products available for purchase, visitors were able to enjoy live music and a celebratory cake recognizing the market’s fourth decade of operations. Director Trisha Fullerton was very pleased with the day’s turnout and even more pleased with the ideal weather conditions.
Fullerton says this year has seen an evolution in the types of vendors and products being offered at the market. She says continued evolution and expansion is a major reason why the market continues to go strong after 40-years of existence.
Saturday’s market followed the start of the Olpe market season Monday and the Allen season on Thursday. The Emporia Farmer’s Market will run from 8:30 am to 10:30 am every Saturday from now until October.
