The Emporia High baseball team was outscored by Garden City 7-4 Friday night in the Spartan Classic.
Garden City scored a run in the 1st inning and added 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Emporia High would score single runs in the 3rd and 4th inning. Garden City would take a 5-2 lead before the Spartans scored 2 runs in the 6th inning to make it a 5-4 game. Garden City would score 2 runs in the 7th to seal the win.
Emporia High Coach Anthony Markowitz was pleased with the way they battled.
Saturday Emporia High will play Andover Central with the first pitch slated for 1:30 pm at Sodens Grove.
The other games Saturday have Blue Valley West playing Dodge City at 10 am. And Garden City plays Maize South at 11:45 am.
