After two years away from the bandstand in Fremont Park, the Emporia Municipal Band is back — and it has a robust schedule this summer.
The season traditionally starts with the city’s Memorial Day performance at the All Veterans Memorial. That is on the calendar May 30. This year, the schedule is longer than it has been in years past, going from June 2-July 14 — and Conductor James Davis says that is a direct result of the band not being able to play the past two years due to COVID-19.
Concerts are Thursdays from 8-9 pm at Fremont Park.
Davis says musicians are needed for all instruments, including what can be best called “reserve musicians” in case other musicians can’t play for various reasons. For more information, call Davis at 620-366-2350.
