An uptick in COVID-19 cases is apparently underway in Lyon County.
Cases went from 22 between April 27-May 4 to 50 between May 4-11, according to Lyon County Public Health. This follows weekly caseload increases of 15 or less since the middle of March and represents the highest weekly increase since 66 cases were reported March 2-9.
Two residents died due to COVID over the past week, increasing the county total to 123. Public Health reports 10,242 total cases throughout the pandemic, or about a third of the county’s total population.
Public Health says the recent increase in cases means the agency is returning to its prior reporting schedule of three announcements per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until further notice. There will be a report Friday before the schedule returns to three days a week next week.
Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern will have more details on KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment at 8:40 am Thursday.
