As the heat continues to rise, local electricians are offering input on how residents can keep their electric bills down as they try to beat the heat.
According to Travis Sullivan of Modern Air, it is recommended that individuals avoid using their air conditioning units during the midday hours and try to push any chores that require large amounts of energy, such as dishes and laundry, to the evening hours. He also says it is important to make sure your AC unit is properly cleaned and maintained as a poorly maintained unit can consume more energy.
Sullivan also recommends running air conditioning around 70 to 75 degrees on hotter days and then turning it down to a lower temperature in the evening if necessary. For those who may need to replace their units, Sullivan says it is important to have crews walk through the home and survey the exact size in order to find a unit that best suits your home.
