Your dollar at the pump hasn’t been stretching very far at all for months, and it’s getting even tighter to close out the week.
At least one Emporia gas station went to $4.05 late Thursday. Many are still at $3.99 after a better than 20-cent jump in prices last week.
Areawide, prices are as high as $4.13 in Melvern, $4.09 in Council Grove and $4.02 in Lebo.
Kansas AAA Public and Government Affairs manager Shawn Steward says $4 gas is a step convenience store owners don’t want to take.
Diesel prices are also high, ranging from $5.56 a gallon in Melvern to $5.19 in Council Grove. Emporia’s diesel prices are anywhere from $5.15 to $5.35 a gallon.
Prices have remained high for several months, especially after Russia invaded Ukraine.
