Strong thunderstorms have triggered a chance for severe weather west of Emporia.
A cluster of storms triggered a severe thunderstorm warning for southwest Chase County around 3:30 am. The warning was canceled early with no severe weather reports.
The storms from early Friday dumped brief heavy rain on parts of the area:
*KVOE studios: 0.80 inches
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.65 inches
*1700 block Wheeler: 1.1 inches
*South and Sylvan: 1 inch
*Allen: 0.50 inches
*Bushong: 0.60 inches
*Neosho Rapids: 1.25 inches
*Olpe: 0.50 inches to 1 inch
*Reading: 1.5-2 inches
*Thorndale: 1.6-2 inches
Another round of severe weather is possible Friday afternoon through the evening hours.
