The Kansas City Royals outscored the Colorado Rockies 14-10 Friday night.
The Royals’ offense was on last night they scored a season-high 14 runs on 18 hits.
Hunter Dozier had a career-high 5 hits.
Andrew Benintendi went 3-for-6 and was a double shy of the first Royals cycle since 1990. Michael A. Taylor was 3-for-4 with a double. Whit Merrifield and Salvador Perez each had a pair of hits, and Bobby Witt Jr. picked up his second career triple. Ryan O’Hearn set a club record with his 4th pinch-hit home run.
The Royals and Rockies play again tonight, Carlos Hernandez will be the starting pitcher for the Royals.
The first pitch is set for 7:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 6:30 pm.
Andrew Benintendi won his arbitration case with the Royals it was announced yesterday. The 27-year-old left fielder filed for a 2022 salary of $8.5 million, and Kansas City countered with $7.3 million. This is the first time since the president of baseball operations Dayton Moore was hired in 2006 that the club has lost in arbitration.
