Work continues to bring a new health insurance option to Chamber of Commerce businesses.
Back in March, Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna announced a partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas — through the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Kansas — to offer “Chamber Blue,” an association health care plan for businesses and their workers. McKenna says she sees the need for an option like this just within the Trusler Business Center.
McKenna says the plan is open to all Chamber businesses, regardless of their size. A survey will be available to Chamber members starting in August to officially gauge interest and help Blue Cross Blue Shield establish rates at some time in September. Sign-up will take place from October to December. The program officially begins in January.
McKenna says having an association plan like Chamber Blue is important because it lowers overall risk and offers more health options — potentially with much more competitive pricing than if the businesses had their own separate plans.
