The Emporia High softball season came to an end in the regional championship game Tuesday. Valley Center outscored the Lady Spartans 8-1. Emporia High scored their lone run in the top of the 7th inning. Valley Center scored 3 runs in the first inning and 3 more runs in the 2nd inning.
In the semi-final game, the Lady Spartans outscored Kapaun Mt Carmel 13-6.
The Lady Spartans scored 4 runs in the 1st inning and never trailed. They added a run in the 2nd, 4 runs in the 3rd, 2 runs in the 4th and 5th innings.
Addie Kirmer was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Elleana Bennett also drove in 3 runs. Kaylee Reimer was 2 for 4 with a home run and scored 3 runs. Gracie Gilpin was the winning pitcher going all 7 innings giving up 6 runs on 10 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.
The Lady Spartans finish the season with a 9-13 record.
