The Kansas City Royals split a doubleheader with the Chicago White Sox Tuesday.
The Royals won the 2nd game 2-1. Emmanuel Rivera scored on a Michael A. Taylor double in the 2nd inning. M.J. Melendez hit his first major league home run in the 6th inning. Brady Singer was the winning pitcher going 7 innings giving up no runs on 4 hits with 9 strikeouts.
The White Sox won the first game 3-0. The Royals had chances, they out hit the White Sox 9-5, struck out 12 times and stranded 12 baserunners.
The Royals and White Sox play again Wednesday night. Zack Greinke will the starting pitcher for the Royals with first pitch set for 7:10 pm.
The Royals placed Salvador Perez on the 10 day injury list after the first game with a sprained thumb. The recalled Sebastian Rivero from Northwest Arkansas.
