Fundraising continues for Project Playscape with one major project nearing the finish line and another waiting in the wings.
In fact, this is a busy weekend for Project Playscape. Organizer and spokesperson Britney Hinrichs, a guest on KVOE’s Morning Show this week, says “Cow Patty Bingo” is coming Sunday.
That particular fundraiser begins at 11:30 am Sunday. Squares are $10, $25 and $50, depending on the “acreage,” and can be picked up at Harry & Lloyds.
Sunday morning features a pancake and biscuits and gravy breakfast at Harry and Lloyd’s starting at 8 am — right before “Cow Patty Bingo.”
Saturday night, meanwhile, features the first annual Project Playscape Banquet from 6-11 pm at the North Lyon County Community Building. The event features dinner, a live and silent auction and music from the band Brickhorse. Tickets are $30 and it is a 21-and-older event.
A matching donation is on the table. Hinrichs says an anonymous donor has pledged to match this month’s donations, including the weekend fundraising activities, if those events bring in at least $15,000.
Construction is almost done at the Americus baseball complex. The plan has included two new ballfields instead of the previous one field.as well as new bleachers, lights, and a scoreboard. The project also has a new shelter house, renovated concessions and bathrooms and a new playground. Wet weather has pushed the grand opening from Saturday to June 11.
Fundraising continues for a combination project to build a new splash pad and renovate the town’s existing outdoor basketball courts.
More information about the projects and upcoming fundraisers is available on the Project Playscape Facebook page.
