Several Lyon County roads and intersections are now passable after flooding earlier this week, while others are barricaded that weren’t previously.
The Lyon County Highway Department removed barricades from nearly 30 roads and intersections on Thursday, but many roads are either still closed or were shut down Thursday. That list includes:

*Road J and 215
*Road N from 150 to 170
*Road N5 from 175 to 180
*Road P from 140 to 150 and 150 to 160
*Road P2 from 175 to 180
*Road U south of Rd 170
*Road 150 from M to S
*Road 160 from P to R
*Road 160 from N to S
*Road 170 from R to R1
*Road 180 from Burlingame to Road N5
*Road 190 and M
*Road 190 west of K5
*Road 215 and J

Lyon County is now clear from all flood warnings.

7 pm Thursday-2 am Friday: Flood warning for Neosho River at Neosho Rapids issued shortly after warning lifted for Neosho at Emporia
River-based flooding has moved southeast of Emporia.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Neosho River at Neosho Rapids until shortly before 3:30 pm Friday. The river is at 22.07 feet, above flood stage of 22 feet. It should go below flood stage late Thursday night.
A warning for the Neosho River at Emporia was canceled Thursday evening.
12-7 pm: List of Lyon County road closures increases slightly as flooding continues
As floodwaters generally subside, the list of Lyon County’s road closures has actually increased slightly.
The LyonCounty911.org road closure map still has a lengthy list of closures in place.

Assistant County Engineer Jim Brull says some roads have emerged from the flooding. Damage varies, depending on the road.
Brull reminds residents to heed the barricades, in part because there are still some roads that are still covered — with undetermined damage underneath — and in part because insurance companies will not cover damage if people drive past the barricades.
Currently, there is only one active flood warning:
*The Neosho River at Emporia is in a warning until just after 4 am Friday. The river crested at 23.7 feet shortly fter 6 am. It’s at 22.43 feet as of noon and is now falling towards flood stage of 19 feet. It should go below flood stage by late Thursday afternoon.

Floodwaters are easing for most area residents, but the Lyon County road network is still hampered by the effects of flooding earlier this week.

Kansas Highway 99 north of Emporia was closed for most of Wednesday but reopened.
Currently, there is only one active flood warning:
*The Neosho River at Emporia is in a warning until just after 4 am Friday. The river was at 23.67 feet shortly before 1 am, above flood stage of 19 feet and above the original expected crest of 23.6. It is expected to go below flood stage by late Thursday afternoon.
Rain is out of the forecast until Friday night and Saturday morning. Strong storms are unlikely but possible Friday night.
