The Minnesota Twins held on for a 6-4 win over the Kansas City Royals Friday night.
The Twins scored 3 runs in the first inning off of Daniel Lynch and never trailed.
The Royals cut the deficit to 4-3 in the 7th. Carlos Santana hit a solo home run.
The Twins scored twice in the 8th.
Emmanuel Rivera hit a solo home run in the 9th but it was not enough.
The Royals did outhit the Twins 11-7. They stranded 7 base runners and were 0-7 with runners in scoring position.
The Royals and Twins play again this evening.
Brad Keller will be the starting pitcher for the Royals. The first pitch is set for 6:10 pm.
The Kansas City Royals made several roster moves Friday.
They sent Carlos Hernandez to Omaha and placed pitcher Ronald Bolanos on the injured list.
They have called up pitchers Matt Peacock and Foster Griffin from Omaha.
They also moved Adalberto Mondesi to the 60-day injured list.
Griffin pitched a perfect 7th inning Friday night.
Peacock recorded the final 4 outs of the game without giving up a hit.
