The Emporia Arts Center held its first Summer Arts Kickoff Party in three years Monday.
Kids and families could enjoy several art demonstrations and a ceramics demonstration from David Mai, who brought terra cotta for work on plates. He says he got a fair amount of questions from the kids in attendance.
Fanestil and Hostess also provided free food during the event, and residents could also sign up for summer arts classes.
Arts Center Director Dawn Young was excited to see the turnout and the interest in summer arts offerings.
While the Arts Center is ready for summer arts classes, it’s also getting ready for Missoula Children’s Theatre from July 18-22. It’s also kicking off its annual membership drive in advance of the Performing Arts Series schedule, which could be announced next week. Young isn’t announcing the schedule yet, but she says there will be a Broadway musical coming to Emporia.
