Click It or Ticket is underway through June 4 across the state.
The goal is to get travelers to wear their seat belts at all times. Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch says ‘ts definitely a matter of safety. Using another way to describe it, he says “it’s all about physics.”
Koelsch says extra deputies will be out on the road, and there will be signage posted around the county reminding drivers of the effort. Koelsch isn’t sure how thick traffic will be through the Memorial Day weekend with gas prices at or above $4 a gallon and diesel above $5 a gallon, but he expects it will be a busy week-plus for deputies.
Areawide, Greenwood and Morris County deputies have announced they are participating. Over 150 law enforcement agencies across Kansas are involved.
