Project Playscape has been working to bring several family-friendly improvements to Americus for several years, and the latest venture got a boost from a busy fundraising weekend.
Proceeds from Saturday night, Sunday morning and others later this year all help to bolster the group’s ongoing push to build a new splash pad and resurface the existing outdoor basketball courts. Looking at Project Playscape’s other work, like the nearly-completed baseball complex and a playground installed several years ago, organizer and spokesperson Britney Hinrichs says the club sees a need to bring the community together through its work.
Project Playscape was developed in 2010 to fund a new playground. Once that was installed, Project Playscape raised money for more playground equipment — which led to the baseball complex, which led to the splash pad and basketball courts.
Saturday night featured the first Project Playscape banquet and auction at the North Lyon County Youth Association Community Building in Allen. Sunday’s event list was concentrated on the morning hours, with a breakfast followed by the second annual Cow Patty Bingo, both in Americus.
