Three Emporia High golfers have qualified for day 2 of the 5A State tournament.
On day 1 Brooks Sauder shot a 78 in the first round and is tied for 17th place.
Caden Massey shot a 79 and is tied for 21st place.
Nolan Jacob shot a 82 and is tied for 33rd place.
As a team, Emporia High just missed qualifying for the 2nd day of play finishing in 7th place, 3 strokes back of 6th place St. James Academy.
Kapaun Mt Carmel is in first place, followed by Goddard Eisenhower, St. Thomas Aquinas, Blue Valley Southwest, Maize South, and St. James Academy.
Also for Emporia High, Hudson Sauder tied for 43rd place with an 85 and Will Walker finished in a tie for 104th place with a 90.
At the 2A tournament being played at the Emporia Golf Course, Lyndons’ Toby Miller advanced to day 2 of the tournament. He finished the first round with a 90.
Ashton Dowell of Hoxie is in 1st place with a 74. Andrew Heinz of Ellinwood is in 2nd place with a 75.
Salina Sacred Heart is in 1st place in the team standings. Hoxie, Hill City, Bishop Seabury, Elkhart, and Ellinwood also advanced to day 2 as teams.
Two area golfers are playing in the 3A tournament at Salina.
Drew Buchman of Council Grove finished day 1 with a 74 and Owen Bailey of Osage City finished with a 93. Both qualified for day two.
3 Chase County golfers played in the Sand Greens Tournament at Downs. Reece Budke shot a 98 and finished in 23rd place. Sophia Glanvill shot a 109 and finished in 33rd place. Luke Budke shot a 132 and finished in 38th place.
