The National Weather Service has canceled flood watches for all area counties well before they were set to conclude. Earlier Tuesday, the Weather Service cleared flood warnings for the Cottonwood River from Plymouth west to Florence before the warnings were even set to begin.

So far, Lyon County’s road network remains fully open. Flooding rain May 17-18 closed a lot of roads and intersections immediately south and east of Emporia as well as several between Emporia and Americus.
Be sure to avoid flooded areas — and if you see water covering a road, report it to authorities and turn around.
