After a chase and search Monday night in northwest Lyon County, Lyon County deputies say they arrested the suspect Wednesday.
Lyon County Sgt. Zach Shafer says deputies responded to the 300 block of Road 200 shortly before 9:20 pm Monday for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies later found the car in question heading north in the 2000 block of Road C, and the driver sped away after deputies tried a traffic stop. The driver crashed in the 3300 block of Road D and left the car behind.
Deputies, Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and Reading first responders searched the area but did not find the suspect.
Deputies then received a report of a suspicious person around 8 am Wednesday near Roads 310 and G. They arrived and found 36-year-old Michael Chase, believed to be the driver in Monday night’s incident.
Chase was arrested and booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of felony flee and elude, leaving the scene of an accident and “numerous” traffic infractions. Formal charges are pending.
