After a successful legislative session, 76th District Representative Eric Smith of Burlington is looking to serve his district for another term.
Smith tells KVOE News one of the reasons for the success this year revolved around financial matters.
Smith also says the redistricting effort, aside from an outcry over the Congressional maps, was surprisingly smooth.
Smith is seeking his fourth term in office. He was a Coffey County deputy when he started. He now serves as undersheriff, and he’s found his law enforcement perspective has been valuable as a lawmaker.
Smith, a Republican, is currently facing no opposition, either from Democrats or fellow Republicans. The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline passes at noon Wednesday.
