The Kansas City Royals held on for a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins Thursday night to snap a 6-game losing skid.
The Royals scored 3 runs in the 8th inning when they were trailing 2-0.
They scored all 3 runs with 2 outs. Whit Merrifield doubled to drive in 2 runs. He then scored on a Bobby Witt Jr double.
Minnesota loaded the bases loaded in the 8th but Scott Barlow was able to escape without giving up a run.
The Twins also had the tieing run at 3rd base in the 9th and the Royals were able to close out the game.
The Royals and Twins play again Friday. Brad Keller will be the starting pitcher for the Royals with the first pitch set for 7:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 6:30 pm.
