Flood warnings are either underway or coming soon for Lyon and Chase counties.
The Cottonwood River is now in a flood warning from Emporia west to Florence, while the Neosho River is in a flood warning at Neosho Rapids.
*For the Cottonwood at Emporia, the warning is underway until early Sunday morning. The river was at 19.38 feet Thursday afternoon. It should go above flood stage of 20 feet late Thursday evening and crest at 22.4 feet Friday evening. The river should go below flood stage Saturday evening.
*For the Cottonwood at Plymouth, the warning goes from 7 am Friday to 7 pm Friday. The river is at 28.78 feet, climbing towards flood stage of 32 feet. The river should crest at flood stage Friday morning and go below flood stage before noon.
*For the Cottonwood at Cottonwood Falls, the warning goes to 7 pm Friday. The river is at 8.5 feet, just below flood stage of 9 feet. It should crest at flood stage Thursday evening and go below flood stage early Friday.
*For the Cottonwood at Florence, the warning now continues until 7:20 am Friday. The river crested at 23.32 feet Thursday afternoon, above flood stage of 22 feet. The river should go below flood stage Thursday evening.
*For the Neosho at Neosho Rapids, the warning goes from 9 am Friday to just after midnight Sunday morning. The river is at 19.96 feet, rising towards flood stage of 22 feet. It should go above flood stage late Friday morning, crest at 22.8 feet Friday evening and go below flood stage Saturday morning.
A handful of Lyon County roads are now closed south and west of Emporia:
*Road 150 at D; at E
*Road 155 at F-5
*Road 160 at G; at G-5; at H; at J
*Road A at US Highway 50; at Lyon County Road 180
*Road G from 160 to 170
This follows 1.3 inches Wednesday into Thursday and another inch Tuesday at the KVOE studios. Area totals have been between 2-2.5 inches of rain this week.
