If you or someone you know is currently caring for a loved one suffering from a neurodegenerative disease and could use some help, three local entities are teaming up to help provide that assistance.
Emporia State’s Lifestyle Empowerment for Alzheimer’s Prevention (LEAP), Angels Care Home Health and Sunflower Care Homes have all partnered together to creat the Flint Hills Dementia Support Group. The group’s first meeting will take place Tuesday at 518 Commercial Street in Emporia and will provide a range of guidance and education to caregivers according to LEAP! Coordinator Erin Blocker.
Blocker says there is a definite need for a group such as this locally and that need is great.
Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 5 pm and Blocker says the meeting is not just for those caring for an Alzheimer’s patient but for any caregiver of an individual with a neurodegenerative disease. Following Tuesday’s meeting, the group will continue to convene on a monthly basis.
