Lyon County Deputy Nathan Rankin says drivers need to be careful, especially if they come up on roads that may be flooded but not yet barricaded. They also need to observe and honor the roads that are barricaded.
Besides the risk of fines, drivers will find insurance companies will not cover flood-related vehicle damage if they go past barricades and then get stuck.
Residents who come to a road that’s flooded and not barricaded should turn around and call the Lyon County Emergency Communications non-emergency number at 620-343-4225.
