There has been another adjustment in the flood warning for the Cottonwood River at Emporia.
The river is now in a warning until early Saturday morning, a bit shorter than the 10 am end time announced earlier. The river is at 22 feet, exactly two feet above flood stage. It should crest at 22.1 feet before sunset and go below flood stage Friday evening.
The Neosho River at Neosho Rapids remains in effect until Friday evening. The river is at 22.94 feet, above flood stage of 22 feet but below an apparent crest of 23.26 feet. It should go below flood stage Friday morning.
Most of the Lyon County roads closed by flooding this week remain barricaded, but the list is now shorter than it was Friday morning. The current list of closures:

Our third round of flooding in as many weeks is underway along parts of the Cottonwood and Neosho Rivers.
The Cottonwood River is a flood warning until Saturday morning. Minor flooding is underway as the river is at 21.87 feet, just below a possible crest of 21.89 feet, nearly two feet above the 20-foot flood stage. The current forecast has the river going below flood stage Friday afternoon.
The Neosho is in a flood warning until Friday evening with moderate flooding underway now. The river is at 23.19 feet, below a possible crest of 23.26 feet. The river should go below flood stage early Friday.
6 am Thursday: Floodwaters cresting across Lyon County; several roads and intersections remain closed
Flooding continues along the Cottonwood River at Emporia and the Neosho River at Neosho Rapids.

The current forecast has the river cresting at 21.9 feet early Thursday afternoon and going below flood stage Friday afternoon.
The Neosho is in a flood warning until Friday morning with moderate flooding underway now. The river is at 23.26 feet, nearing crest of 23.4 feet. The river should go below flood stage early Friday.
Several Lyon County roads and intersections are closed, either just south of Emporia, just west of Americus or between Emporia and Americus.

Flooding continues after anywhere from 2.5 to 5-plus inches of rainfall Monday night through Wednesday afternoon. Additional rainfall is possible Saturday through the middle of next week.
