After a Game 1 that featured 14 goals and a near-comeback by Edmonton, the Colorado Avalanche breezed to a 4-0 win in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals despite having their starting goalie out with an injury.
The Avalanche used a 3-goal second period to essentially put the game away, with all three goals in just over two minutes — including two goals in 15 seconds. Avs goalie Pavel Francouz turned aside 24 shots in replacing Darcy Kuemper, who missed Game 2 with an upper-body injury. Mike Smith had 36 saves for Edmonton.
Game 3 is Saturday night in Edmonton.
Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals is Friday night (tonight) between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning. The Rangers lead that series 1-0.
