A three-run ninth inning saw the Kansas City Royals fall 7-4 against the Houston Astros Sunday.
The Astros scored in the third, fourth and eighth and the Royals had two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth as they trailed 4-3 going into the ninth. Kyle Tucker, Yulli Gurriel and Jeremy Pena all singled to drive in three runs in the top of the ninth.
Phil Maton would score off a Ryan O’Hearn double to bring the Royals within three but they could not overcome the lead.
The Royals will now begin a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays Monday. First pitch is set for 7:10 pm.
