Ignite Emporia has a new director.
Sherry Harrison has been selected to lead the department, and Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says Harrison moved to Emporia from Nevada and started her new duties last week.
Harrison comes to Emporia with experience in commercial and residential real estate development, general corporate transactions and grant writing. She follows Ignite’s first director, Rob Gilligan, who left Emporia earlier this year to be the Chamber of Commerce director in Cape Girardeau, MIssouri.
Harrison’s hire comes as Ignite Emporia is in the middle of its five-year strategic plan to enhance workforce development, housing development, business retention and community development.
