The Kansas City Royals got a combination of timely offense and good pitching Wednesday. The result? An 8-4 win over Toronto.
Carlos Santana had four hits and Salvador Perez had his 11th career triple to drive the offense, while Brady Singer gave three runs on eight hits through five innings of work. Manager Mike Matheny says things clicked offensively.
After getting eight hits total the previous two games against Toronto, both losses, the Royals had 13 hits in the win, including the four hits from Santana and two each from Perez, Whit Merrifield and Bobby Witt Jr.
Hunter Dozier was left out of Wednesday’s lineup again with right side discomfort. He felt “something in his side” during an at-bat Monday. A diagnosis is still pending.
The Royals and Baltimore begin a four-game series Thursday night. Kris Bubic gets the start for Kansas City. Pregame is at 6:30 pm and first pitch is at 7:10 on 14 KVOE and 96.9 FM.
