Travelers wanting to use Kansas Highway 170 east of Reading no longer have to go all the way north to US Highway 56 to do so.
On Friday, the Kansas Department of Transportation opened a bridge over the Marais des Cygnes River in far western Osage County near Reading. The bridge was replaced over the past year.
The end of the project was delayed several times by weather, especially from the second half of May into June.
Meanwhile, work is set to resume Monday on a leveling course for Burlingame Road between Road 230 and Kansas Highway 99. Daily road closures are set between 6:30 am and 5 pm Monday through at least Thursday this week.
Leveling course work on two parts of Americus Road is complete. The Lyon County Highway Department recently finished work on Americus Road between Roads 180 and 190 just west of Emporia as well as just south of Americus to Main Street.
