Biking Across Kansas is underway, and it’s coming to the KVOE listening area this week.
Cyclists are pedaling over 500 miles — during the hottest week of the year so far — as they work west to east across Kansas. Riders started at the Colorado border west of Syracuse and will end east of Louisburg by Saturday.
Riders will move through the KVOE listening area Thursday, riding through Cottonwood Falls and Emporia before a stop in Olpe. Riders will then go through Lebo on Friday before the tour ends Saturday.
Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch will discuss the tour, including safety tips, on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:20 am Wednesday. Following that interview, USD 252 Southern Lyon County Superintendent Mike Argabright will preview a special fundraising meal Thursday in Olpe to benefit the district’s Honor Flight program. Argabright will join KVOE’s 8:05 am newscast Wednesday.
