Summer-like heat is not going anywhere according to the National Weather Service.
A heat advisory has been issued for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from noon to 8 pm Thursday. Forecasts are calling for high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s with heat index readings as high as 105 possible throughout the day.
As always, NWS is encouraging residents to take steps to avoid any heat-related illness that could develop as a result of the humidity and heat. Be sure to drink plenty of water, stay in air conditioning and shade as much as possible and wear light loose-fitting clothing especially if you are working outdoors.
Residents should also try and move any strenuous outdoor activities to the morning and evening hours if possible. Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for more updates as they become available.
