As construction work comes to a close for the 12th Avenue waterline project, the city of Emporia has announced its plans to handle work at the Chestnut Street intersection.
The city will close the south part of the intersection either Monday or shortly thereafter. Weather permitting, work should last a week. Westbound traffic can go through the intersection and turn right, or north, at Chestnut.
Once this happens, West 12th will open to eastbound traffic between Grand and Lincoln at the west end of the construction zone.
The city says there will be a full intersection closure at 12th and Chestnut once the south part of the intersection is finished. The timing for that has not been released.
