After rescheduling last month, the Eastside Community Group is set for the official dedication of Eastside Memorial Park’s new basketball court.
The ceremony will take place Monday at 11 am at the park located at 821 East Street. The basketball court is the latest addition to the park to be unveiled to the public. On Memorial Day weekend the group hosted a community meal where it dedicated a new modern playground, swingset and other updates which have been in the works for the past two decades.
Eastside Group President Al Slappy says the updates wouldn’t be possible without the numerous fundraising events over the years and some very important community partnerships.
Slappy says Monday will be a “come and go” event giving local residents who have yet to see the court up close to do so. Activities will run until 1 pm and all are invited to attend.
