CrossWinds’ plan to revamp mental health services across its seven-county coverage area has gotten a seven-digit boost from the WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust.
The Jones Trust is offering a five-year, almost $2.4 million grant for the “Breaking Stigma, Breaking Ground” capital campaign. CrossWinds says this campaign will lead to a nearly 40,000 square foot campus designed to address issues like suicide, overdose deaths and substandard care for veterans, seniors and non-English-speaking residents.
The campaign was started with a goal of developing what CrossWinds calls a “privately-owned, campus-style hub” for mental health services. Grant funds will be used to renovate two buildings at the start of an effort to expand treatment offerings for Lyon and surrounding counties. CrossWinds CEO Amanda Cunningham, a guest on KVOE’s 7:05 am newscast Wednesday, says this will streamline operations and give clients a better experience at the same time.
Part of the grant funds — $75,000 — will go towards CrossWinds’ children’s programs including daytime, after-school, summer and “Positive Alternatives for Student Success” ventures in Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties.
