(kshsaa) There will be two new weight classes for High School Girls wrestling in Kansas next Season.
KSHSAA announced that at its June Executive Board meeting, the Board voted to implement the new NFHS wrestling weight classes for the 2022-23 season. The changes not only modified weight classes in both genders, but also added two more weight classes for girls, bringing their total to 14 weight classes — equal to the number contested by boys.

Coach Russell recently took a group of wrestlers to the Iowa camp.
In July Emporia Highs Maddy Griffin will be returning to the US Marine Corps Junior and 16 and under Nationals to be held in Fargo, North Dakota.
Last year, girls competed in the following weight classes: 101, 109, 115, 120, 126, 132, 138, 143 155. 170, 191 and 235. The additional weight classes will fall at the low-to-middle end of the spectrum with the new weight classes beginning in the 2022-23 season being: 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 155, 170, 190 and 235.
Last year’s boys weight classes were: 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285. The new breakdown is: 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215 and 285.
