Former Symphony in the Flint Hills executive director Christy Davis will soon be leading the US Department of Agriculture’s rural development efforts for the state of Kansas.
The USDA says it will appoint Davis as its Rural Development director at an unlisted time this year.
Davis is a fifth-generation Kansan who has served as legislative chair for the Kansas Downtown Development Association and on the board of the Chase County Chamber of Commerce in addition to leading the Symphony in the Flint Hills. Besides those efforts, Davis and her husband, Luke, have been involved with major rehabilitation projects, including new housing and a bookstore from an historic bank building and an award-winning laundromat out of another historic building.
The USDA says Rural Development state directors are tasked with “promoting the mission and strategic goals of Roral Development.” They also develop and foster what the USDA calls a “productive, diverse and inclusive state workforce.”
