Following the announcement that longtime 5th Judicial District Chief Judge Merlin Wheeler will be retiring, the 5th Judicial District Nominating Commission is set to meet next week.
The commission will convene at noon Thursday, Jun. 30 to set the schedule for filling the vacancy. The meeting is open to the public and will take place via videoconference.
