Plumb Place is apparently moving quickly towards a new owner, but it’s lining up to be not one of the announced plans from earlier this year.
Receiver Kevin Flott petitioned Lyon County District for former Stanley Jewelry owner Chris Stanley to take over Plumb Place, filing that paperwork in late May.
Stanley Jewelry closed in March 2016. Stanley now owns Brickside Beds Airbnb at 427 Sylvan. She tells KVOE News her plan is to live in the home and renovate the entire house in preparation to turn the rest of the house into an Airbnb, although she says people will ultimately rent out rooms at Plumb Place instead of the entire house at Brickside.
Flott did not mention a purchase price and did not comment on what separated Stanley’s bid from others. Stanley’s tentative contract means plans from Eli Fowler to use the space as apartments and temperature-controlled storage, as well as Jarrod and Clarine Hibler’s goal of living in the home, could well be declined. Fowler was first to declare intent and appeared to have the inside track before the Hiblers announced their plans and the Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission decided against recommending Fowler’s zoning change request to facilitate his idea.
Stanley’s status will be considered during a hearing in front of Judge Jeff Larson at 11 am July 6.
