SOS Strong officially begins Monday.
The fundraiser began in 2015 and throughout the process has generated funds to “fill gaps” typical grant funding doesn’t cover for SOS. Director Connie Cahoone expanded on that thought during a recent appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show:
Between now and July 27, SOS Strong is using 16 men from across the five-county SOS coverage area to both raise funds and represent SOS and its mission of halting domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect. Their individual goal is to raise $1,000 over the next month. They also pledge to lead by example, never blame victims, be a “positive upstander,” not engage in acts of violence, stand up for others in need and speak up for what is right at all times.
This follows the first-ever Heroes for Hope campaign involving 20 area women. That effort generated over $50,000 for SOS programs.
The list of SOS Strong participants is online at KVOE.com. For more information, including ways to donate directly to the individual efforts online, go to www.soskansas.com/sos-strong.
