A Texas woman was killed in a UTV/ATV crash in southeast Lyon County Monday morning.
According to Lyon County Deputy Jody Meyers, the accident occurred in the 400 block of Road V just before 6 am. Upon arrival, Lyon County Deputies found a red Polaris Razer on its passenger side in the west ditch.
30-year-old Chelsea Moore of Hunt, Texas, was inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 31-year-old Ian Ellender of Hartford was taken from the scene by Emporia/Lyon County EMS to Newman Regional Health with apparently serious injuries.
Both Hunt and Ellender were reportedly not wearing their seatbelts a the time of the crash. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch has confirmed one person was killed in a crash in southeast Lyon County on Monday.
The crash was reported near Roads 50 and V around 6 am. Koelsch says one person was taken to Newman Regional Health with serious but apparently non-life-threatening injuries.

7:15 am: Wreck with reported injuries noted southwest of Hartford
Lyon County deputies and Emporia-Lyon County EMS responded to a crash with reported injuries in southeast Lyon County before sunrise Monday.
Early indications are one vehicle was involved in the crash near Roads 50 and V, about seven miles southwest of Hartford. Further details about the crash are currently pending.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area at this time until further notice.
