The Emporia Junior Spartan baseball team swept a doubleheader from El Dorado Tuesday night.
The Junior Spartans won the first game 2-1 behind the pitching of Telo Trujillo who goes 6 innings giving up the 1 run on 7 hits with 11 strikeouts.
Both teams scored a run in the 1st inning. For Emporia Owen Ruge scored on a Madden Siedl double.
Emporia broke the tie when Jackson Goodman scored on a Tanner Seidl ground-out.
Owen Ruge would work out of a bases-loaded no-out jam in the top of the 7th without giving up a run to seal the win.
The Junior Spartans outscored El Dorado 8-7 in the 2nd game.
The Junior Spartans scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning then had to hold off a 5th inning rally by El Dorado when they scored 4 runs.
Andrew Ruxton would drive in 2 runs.
Louis Carlos also drove in 2 runs.
Owen Ruge scored 3 runs.
Chase Harrington was the winning pitcher. Madden Seidl earned the save.
The Junior Spartans are now 5-7, they are scheduled to play the Topeka Senators in Topeka on Thursday.
