Repairs are complete and water service has been restored to customers following a water line break in central Emporia Thursday.
According to the City of Emporia’s official Facebook page, the line was repaired just before 3 pm. The size of the line and cause of the break has not been divulged.
Crews repaired the line by splitting it and replacing it with 45 inches of PVC pipe.
The incident at Ninth and Oak is the third line break to be reported this week. Monday, simultaneous breaks were reported on opposite ends of Emporia at 15th and Chestnut in north Emporia and US Highway 50 and Graphic Arts Road in far west Emporia.
Both lines have since been repaired.

Emporia Underground Utilities crews are working to restore the third water line break in as many days Thursday.
According to Emporia Public Works Director Dean Grant, a break was reported in the mid to late morning hours Thursday at Ninth and Oak. Crews are still on scene repairing the damage.
Full details including the line’s size, the number of customers affected and the cause of the break are pending.
The Ninth and Oak break follows simultaneously breaks on opposite ends of Emporia Monday evening. The first break occurred at 15th and Chestnut in north Emporia with the second reported at US Highway 50 and Graphic Arts Road.
Both lines have since been repaired.
