Osage County deputies say a traffic violation led to an arrest on suspected drug activity and stolen property.
Sheriff Chris Wells says a deputy conducted a traffic stop just north of the junction involving US Highway 75, Kansas Highway 268 and K-31 shortly before 12:30 pm Thursday. Wells also says the deputy conducting the stop found illegal narcotics and unspecified stolen property.
A passenger, 44-year-old Jason Spaniol of Lawrence, was arrested and jailed on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia, along with possession of stolen property and a state parole violation warrant. Wells does not mention anybody else in the vehicle.
Formal charges are pending.
